Dental fluorosis, rampant in Canada and the U.S., indicates that a child has been OVERDOSED on fluoride.
To a reasonable person, this opens up the question as to what other tissue might have been harmed.
It is NOT reasonable to simply assume that the delicate biochemical machinery of the developing brain is more resistant than the developing teeth, especially when Xiang’s data shows that IQ is lowered even when children have very mild dental fluorosis.
Once Bashash et al. showed in 2017 that the most sensitive stage for the brain to fluoride is during fetal development, and that the fluoride exposures received by the pregnant women in their study relate strongly to lowered IQ – this should have spelled the end of water fluoridation.
We are looking at a potential loss of up to 6 IQ points (Bashash et al., 2017) for a saving of half a permanent tooth surface out of 128 tooth surfaces in a child’s mouth (Sanders et al, 2019) (a relative savings of 0.45/128 x 100 = 0.35%).
Daily purchase of purchase generic viagra http://cute-n-tiny.com/tag/cheetah/ is possible from viagra drugstore sites of which Thepharmadrugstore.com is a prominent and popular website. Doctors usually suggest people with prescription cialis . viagra is a right place for people who are suffering from the problem of erectile dysfunction. Men who suffered from it were less likely for reporting cialis sale http://cute-n-tiny.com/cute-animals/dog-and-kangaroo-pals/ impotence than men in the lowest quintile. If on line cialis you plan on spending a few thousand years ago, a Chinese goat farmer noticed that his goats became more promiscuous when he fed them a particular herb.
This is not a trade off that a rational person would accept – especially when the rest of the world (including virtually the whole of British Columbia and Quebec) is achieving the same or similar benefits WITHOUT water fluoridation and without a violation of medical ethics.
Further, Malin et al. reported in 2018 that fluoride exposure is associated with higher TSH levels (an indicator of hypothyroidism) in Canadians who are already iodine deficient or borderline. When a fetus comes into existence it has no thyroid gland of its own, it is completely dependent on the mother’s hormone levels, and thus is exquisitely sensitive to the mother’s thyroid status – which makes Malin et al.’s thyroid study EXTREMELY important.
Bashash, Hu, Till and Malin all presented major papers on neurotoxity as well as thyroid function at the October 2018 ISES-ISEE conference in Ottawa. (Hu reported on the 2017 Bashash et al. IQ study; Bashash presented the 2018 Bashash et al. study that found ADHD symptoms also relate to maternal fluoride levels.)
These papers underlined the importance of the Bashash et al. results because
Till et al. (2018) found that the fluoride urine levels for pregnant women in Canadian fluoridated cities are approximately
the same as those in the Bashash et al. Mexico City study (0.87 ppm versus 0.91 ppm) .
Note that urine levels give a measure of TOTAL fluoride exposure and so are independent of the actual source (e.g. fluoridated salt versus fluoridated water).
There was also another important study reported by Till which hasn’t been published yet. The other 4 papers are already published.
These are all VERY IMPORTANT findings reported in Ottawa – right under the noses of Health Canada officials.
How could these studies have been published without Canadian public health “authorities” noticing and alerting the public?
KEY QUESTIONS:
Have
- Health Canada officials, or
- federal or provincial Health Ministers, or
- federal or provincial Medical Officers (i.e. Ontario’s Dr. David Williams), or
- ANY federal or provincial agencies (i.e. Public Health Ontario)
communicated this information to Canada’s municipal Boards of Health, Health Commissioners, or Medical Officers, many of whom persist in defending and promoting water fluoridation?
To municipal decision-makers?
To the public? Media? Anyone??
Why haven’t all fluoridated communities ended fluoridation already, based upon the precautionary principal?
We do know that Public Health Ontario published an Article Review on “Prenatal Fluoride Exposure and Cognitive Outcomes in Children at 4 and 6–12 Years of Age in Mexico“, acknowledging that:
- “…a 0.5mg/L increase in maternal urinary fluoride was associated with a decrease in GCI of 3.15 points (95% CI: -5.42,-0.87), and a decrease in IQ of 2.50 points (95%CI: -4.12, -0.59)”
- “The study by Bashash et al. is a considerable improvement over previous research…”
…directly contradicting the “safe for everyone” claims still made by municipal Medical Officers. Yet Medical Officers continue adamantly defending fluoridation of public drinking water.
We also know that Public Health Ontario claimed in a so-called “November 2018” publication to have reviewed the Bashash et al. ADHD study and the Malin et al. thyroid study and that their reviews are “available upon request”, but in fact refused to release them on request in February 2019.
I think you can run Health Canada to ground with this.1) First get their review. 2) Then ask them if they knew of the Ottawa conference. Did they attend? 3) Then ask them if they have updated their review in lihgt of reports made there and published since? 4) Who have they informed on this issue – are they keeping MOH’s in the loop on this? If not why not? Surely, they must know of the meetings in Windsor, Tecumseh, and London and the past and continuing furore in Peel region. Surely, they know the MOHs are making presentations in these communities???.
Ellen is looking for the exact details of the (Oct, 2018, Ottawa). I understand that reps from Health Canada were there. SO THEY DO KNOW about these important studies.
2018 ISES-ISEE 2018, August 26-30 meeting; Health Canada had several staff there, including two of the convention Chair persons! An “honorable” responsibility, for such a “Prestigious Committee” that must come with some responsibilities and accountability?
Is this group (ISEES) “vulnerable” to having Health Canada chairs ignore the peer supported end fluoridation research that the ISEES is using to help the world? After all “ISEES is looking at providing “Global Solutions” to improve world health… can we call them on this? The Society has an “iron in the fire”….
This is also a Prime Minster Justin Trudeau, notification event as it relates to Minister “Mandate Letters” public responsibilities defined on Mandate letters.
“I expect Canadians to hold us accountable for delivering these commitments, and I expect all ministers to do their part – individually and collectively – to improve economic opportunity and security for Canadians.
In particular, I will expect you to work with your colleagues and through established legislative, regulatory, and Cabinet processes to deliver on your top priorities:
Complete bilateral agreements with each province and territory outlining the specific action plans and performance indicators that will be used to improve access to mental health and addiction services, and home and community care.”
ISEES Chair – 1: Markey Johnson – Health Canada – Air Pollution and possibly the person we should be getting in contact with;
ISEES Chair – 2: Angelika Zidek – Health Canada “Children’s health, Consumer exposures, chemical contaminants, exposure assessments for the last 8 years.
My quick search of their 2, 032 page “Abstract book” and searching for “Find = fluor” and I received 438 hits, including research that Christine TIll was involved with and presenting (also Bruce Lanphear – Simon Fraser University Burnaby BC was one of her co-researchers).
From their “Program Book” – 186 pages – using the same search 69 hits came up.
Some of what they discussed:
“S02.01E. Fluoride Exposure and Health Outcomes in North America …………………………………….. 327
S02.02G. The Fluoridation Decision: Considering the Evidence for Benefits, Possible Risks as Well as Ethical World Views…………………….…………………………………………………………………………………… 397
S02.02.33. Neurotoxic Effects of Fluoride Exposures in North America page 399.”
Paul, I was not at the conference…
dodging Mega Forest Fires in BC…. (and anticipate the same kind of summer for 2019…- 10,000 years of history can’t be wrong! Jasper at 160,000 ha of dead pine forests…. yeah that’s going to send smoke East and around the world… sometime in the next few years.)
If Ellen is reading through all of the details from the Conference… maybe I can assist?
Once this is looked at more… and there is a lot to read on fluoride….
Gilles, I agree, the logic functionality of Health Canada, Public Health (Canadian and Provincial), Municipalities and local Provincial Health Authorities (and First Nations Health Authorities are a different critter, at least in BC – not FOI able) is creating intentional chaos (no theory).
I know you and othres have done this before….however, in light of what is happening now…. would it be worth putting some effort in to sending a letter to Ms. Zidek (Health Canada, one of the Co-chairs for the ISEES 2018 Convention and include the ISEES organization with a cc or something) to find out what Health Canada’s “official fluoridation Position” is?
Ms. Zidek has been studying this for over 8 years as a Health Canada employee. Shirley, she must have some clue on what she is doing and why? (And please do’t call me Shirley!)
We could also include a CC to the Minister of health…… and ask for the Minister’s position in light of injecting US-EPA confirmed hazardous waste (maybe include the Minister of transport and relate the letter to the Ontario Accident that killed a truck driver, and contaminated the environment (Catherine McKenna to – and she is a waste of time…, however, environment is part of her failed responsibility).
The request could be based on the US-EPA confirming (2015) that Fluorosilicic acid is a “chemical contaminant” negatively impacting children’s health (and mental health) as presented at the convention (Christine Till – Ontario, Brce Lanphear Burnaby BC – Canada focuses) including the Minister of Health Mandate.
Not another “Task” for Ontario or Quebec…. and so many others… maybe something I can work toward while the “local” battles occur? Possibly as a follow-up to what you sent a couple years back Gilles, this time from a BC perspective reflecting on Ontario and Quebec…
Just some quick thoughts…. and an easy to find web link, and maybe a ton of work… I feel the frustrations too….
Can we add to the letter, Federal documentation (1957, Supreme Court, Health Canada FOI….showing the systemic failure and increased threat to Canadians combining the ISEES meeting and several of the other documents? (under 3 pages?)
I can add Province of BC Hansard points too…
