Region ordered to release audio recording of Council’s illegally closed meeting
An adjudicator at the office of Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner has finally ordered the Region of Peel to release their audio recording of Council’s illegally closed-to-the-public fluoridation meeting held in January 2016.

Recall that Regional Staff had, up until now, withheld the entire audio recording and much of the written transcript and that originally every word spoken by 2 of the fluoridation-defending “experts” was blacked-out of the transcript.
Thanks to the IPC’s order, we now know that toxicologist David Juurlink spent his presentation (see pages 3 – 10)
- condescendingly pointing out weaknesses in the hundreds of studies that suggest harm could/does result from fluoridation,
- neglecting to mention that the studies used to “prove” fluoridation safe and effective are equally imperfect since no randomized controlled trial of water fluoridation has ever been conducted anywhere, anytime,
- blaming publication bias rather than toxicity for the vast body of peer-reviewed scientific literature that consistently shows fluoride can damage brains,
- pretending that dental fluorosis is not a biomarker for fluoride poisoning and that there is nothing wrong with mass medicating entire communities, even when using an untested, unapproved, unregulated cocktail of known potent toxins sourced from industrial waste.
Despite having advised pediatric medical students elsewhere to “avoid fluoridated toothpaste until able to spit (>3 years) due to fluorosis risk (stains teeth)”, Juurlink insisted behind closed doors that he does not see a problem with fluoridating public water.
How bizarre given that, at that time, every 350 ml of our water contained the same 0.25 mg fluoride that he, the FDA, Health Canada and dentists all insist young kids must avoid swallowing when brushing their teeth! (Today it’s every 385 ml.)
Is this why he felt compelled to admit from the outset: “...when Dr. De Villa asked me to do this last year, I came to it as somebody who knew very little about, um, fluoridation…. I don’t want to give you the impression that I know the literature on fluoride extensively…”
Our verdict: David Juurlink either fails at grade school math, was more interested in protecting water fluoridation than in protecting fetuses, infants and young children, or was even more “new” to the topic than he cared to admit.
